The Westin Kuala Lumpur - An Urban Oasis Staycation Getaway

When a proper or your preferred choice of hotel is made for a good staycation, be it a beach front holiday or an urban city stay, you don’t even need to leave the entire establishment especially when it has most of the dining and entertainment, a well quipped  and fully functional gym with various working out programs as well as a xx Executive Club Lounge to chill and socialize, The Westin Kuala Lumpur has sorted out what you need into a revitalizing experience. mylifestylenews writes.

Escaping to an oasis of peace in the heart of the city, The Westin Kuala Lumpur is located in the pulsating streets of Jalan Bukit Bintang that puts the vibrant Kuala Lumpur’ best shopping, entertainment and local attractions right at your doorstep, including the Petronas Twin Towers that are just minutes away.

For more than a decade since its opening in 2003, The Westin Kuala Lumpur has continuing to strive and provide its innovative programs and facilities and transform every aspect by offering a memorable stay for its guests within their very own entertainment complex to stay relaxed and refreshed, feeling better than when they arrived.

With this philosophy in mind and wanting its guests to immediately notice how good it feels to be there, the arriving experience is the first impression to be looked into. Not only by making a grand entrance through its spacious yet soaring high ceiling lobby and white marble flooring adds to its class, the glass wall entrance also attracts ample natural sunlight from the main Bukit Bintang street.

Staying in The Westin Kuala Lumpur for one of its perks by choosing the Executive Club Room for other benefits inclusion to unwind and makes the stay more rewarding.  Our speedy check-in was handled promptly by Zaid who is not only looking after the check-in and check-out but also does the run around and manages to help on the table service with a prompt and polite attitude. Even though we arrived earlier than the expected check-in time and immediately after a light refreshment at the elegant Executive Club Lounge, we were transported to our room to settle in.

Our 42 sqm Executive Club Room was refurbished with a modern and contemporary touch where simplicity takes on the whole dimension in terms of interior and décor. Space is the key here where everything spaces out for a reason to enjoy the luxe of freedom in such an international brand standard. The sassy day bed complimented by the floor lamp is the best place to unwind while looking out at the sweeping city skyline around the neighborhood makes an additional plus.

Despite the bathroom beginning to show its age, it is roomy and the toilet is separated from the high pressure standing shower adjacent to a standard size bathtub. Another highlight in the room is the world-renowned Heavenly Westin bed which is truly heavenly for an unforgettable experience of restorative sleep. The oasis of lush sheets, down and patented pillow top mattress are in high quality. When a good bed has you woken up fresh and recharged, it is the best thing to begin the day with. Now, you can possibly understand why someone may tell you that they don’t want to get up from their bed (a good bed) where they can possibly spend the entire morning lingering in it and The Westin has its magic to make their guests feel pampered and indulged.

The recreation facilities in The Westin Kuala Lumpur begin with the 24 hours access Westin WORKOUT – a modern and fully equipped gym with state-of-the-art equipment that gives you plenty of choices for cardio, strength and stretching and complete with a sauna to relax in. If an indoor workout is not your cup of tea, RunWESTIN is another complimentary program to runners of all levels offering guided, scenic morning runs to KL City Centre Park led by the in house dedicated Running Concierge with a warm up session and fun customized training tips on selected days of the week. Forgot to pack your training gear? Athletic shoes and apparel can be loaned for a nominal fee as the hotel is partnering with New Balance to provide you the ultra comfort from their gear-lending program while working out.

We are not the athletic kind and we chose to hang out by the pool on level 4 instead. Lush green and trees are surrounding the recreational swimming pool creating a tropical villa oasis escape in the bustling city centre. The main round swimming pool is separated by a small children’s pool with an elevated relaxing area next to some water features in its serene landscaping. Splash by the pool serves up leisurely snacks, casual lunch and some sweet notes as well as some selected house signature cocktails while you decide to spend most of your afternoon by the pool.

Dining is a feast for royalty especially when you pick a good restaurant to indulge yourself. The Westin Kuala Lumpur offers quite a variety of options from Western to Asian delights. The artistic flavors of Italy come to life at PREGO which is not to be missed and we also checked out Five Sen5es for its All You Can Eat Dim Sum which is popular among the locals.

The Executive Club Lounge is where we hang out the most during our staycation. The long stretching and elegantly design fit out is the perfect venue for business meetings, socializing or just unwinding at any time of the day. From its extended breakfast hours to a lazy, quiet afternoon tea and the evening cocktail hours, the Club benefits has certainly offered something that is wanting you to get pampered.

Well selected wines come along with other quality refreshments for evening cocktails. Delectable Eat Well Menu dishes are thoughtfully crafted for the Club Lounge guests. In fact, the well organized mini buffet for the evening cocktail is more than sufficient, filled with plentiful cheeses, fruits, freshly baked breads, salads, hor d'oeuvres, hot dishes like satay skewers and chicken dishes among many other local delicacies. The live cooking station also caters for Chef’s daily specialties for another personal touch.

The entire Executive Club lounge also stretches out to an open patio as well as spaced out with some large sofas with comfy plush cushions for watching the world go by through the floor to ceiling windows. The Executive Club Lounge staff’s instinctive service is really worth mentioning especially Bosco’s attentive service, from his sharp eyes looking after everyone’s needs with efficiency.  A great personality and good gesture by making everyone feeling equally important, welcome, relaxed and enjoying the experience. This is an absolute rewarding and relaxing indulgence.

Executive Club Room guests have a choice for breakfast, either dining at The Living Room beneath a stunning glass sun burst sculpture from the ceiling at lobby level for a wider selection or back to the designated Executive Club Lounge for lesser selection by choice yet a more premium produce used. Not forgetting also for an extra personalized touch when service comes to considering a quieter ambience. After all, here is where they want you to get pampered.

Despite the telephone service through the Service Express dial was disappointing with most of the time no one answer after 10 rings or longer and it went straight to dead tone and no name greetings even when the phone was picked up with a dulled and less cheerful voice, the concierge tea, also has no eye contact, no greetings nor willing to serve with passion or offering a helpful service but showing a personal attitude. Even the door men were a little discriminating when it comes to greetings. They tend to only greet and offer their best gesture prioritized to worship westerners or by the mode of transport that the guests arrive to the hotel. A casual dressed guest may not have their attention nor any greeting while entering or exiting the hotel which was clearly shown from their facial expression. An elevated level of personalized services and hospitality is clearly in need in this area.

Nevertheless, “For a Better You” philosophy to live through the brand’s six pillars of Well-Being, Work, Well, Move Well, Eat Well, Sleep Well and Play Well, The Westin Kuala Lumpur’s staycation would be an experience level in the luxury of space to breathe new life and transform everyday’s living into a rejuvenating experience.

BAROQCO AW2018/19 Couture Collection

Designers Imelda and Eduardo aka BaroQco are citizens of the world .Their roots are from Dutch Chinese Indonesian and Portuguese descent, and this diversity is what provides foundation that leads to the inspiration and creation.

BaroQco comes from Baroque, an era of change from simplicity to lively and exuberant detail. BaroQco stands alone with its unique grandeur and ability to surprise and to achieve a sense of awe.

Imelda and Eduardo started to create jewelry as they were looking for a tiara or crown for their wedding day.

At that time there were not a lot of options, so they decided to create their own tiara which lead others to ask whether they could also make necklaces and earrings.

BaroQco loves using a palette of different colours in their creations that will bring the jewelry to life and make each creation a master piece.

The love for master painters like Vincent van Gogh and Pierre-Auguste Renoir inspires the couple. Their style is adding to baroque movement and unique details. It depends on each collection, we have a winter and summer collection.

The winter collection is classic, rigid and strong. The summer collection is more vivid. Eduardo starts to draw several concepts based on a certain theme.

Imelda looks at the current trends and then they choose together the opposite, just to be different. They select the colour combinations for the collections and create an one of a kind piece of art.

The materials are opal ,gold and Swarovski and all the metalwork are nickel free, the usage of non toxic and - hazardous for plating makes the jewelry more eco friendly.

PATUNA AW2018/19 Carré d'as Couture Collection mylifestylenews Top 10 Pick

PATUNA AW2018/19
Carré d'as Couture Collection

She’s preparing herself, enhancing her hair, raising the drape of her black gown for putting her stilettos on…

Then she’s going to the casino, sitting at a poker table and playing like a man.

Being an elegant woman is always a trump in the game of the American and Georgian designer Patuna.

She gets the power with her femininity, not for defending it, but for asserting its values.

In evening dresses with drapings of light pink chiffons and beige tulles, the
shapes are fluid, the transparencies made of laces are sublimated with Swarovski crystals and semi precious stones.

In the movement, the architectural structures contrast with the vanishing trains and silks, as some tremendous golden and silver vessels making curls and turbulence on their way…

A fall winter season made for intimate evenings at the Medicis Villa, or for climbing the steps of the Palais des Festivals…

Or for laying the cards at Deauville!

Finale.

KENZO AW2018 Women's & Men's Collection

KENZO AW2018 Women's & Men's Collection

"Working on collections for KENZO over the years, we find ourselves permanently provoked to picture life through the prism of culture, people and happenings. One of the most influential inspirations for us is cinema. The plethora of characters and personalities that can be evoked, portrayed and ultimately retained in our psyche is fascinating to us.

For AW2018 we present a collection celebrating the various on-screen strong women and men who have engrossed or enthralled us with their style and spirit. For women’s we meander through the traditional and the technical, exposing a collection brimming with dusty colors and vibrant prints.

Silk satin cherry blossom jacquard dresses are worn alongside modernized twinsets in transparent nylon knits. Pencil skirts in silk are over-the-knee with front slits. Rich micro-pleated velvet dresses and skirts in an archival floral print come ruched. Tweed cargo pants, oversized pea coats and bustier dresses are matched with washed cotton canvas “movie poster” tee shirts, dresses and culottes. Dresses in “coat lining” inspired silk fabrics pair with wool bouclé coats in lilac or camel.

The men’s collection fuses the heritage and modern by twisting classics and clashing prints and colors. A boxy silhouette pervades and skinny pants run the gamut of fabrics. Waxed cotton trenches appear in traditional colors and a pop turquoise.

Reflective flock print fabrics are used on technical nylon vests or trousers. Zip-up nylon blousons with floral jacquards partner with heavy wool molleton double faced duffels. Typical bomber jackets are lengthened and leather pieces appear in the shape of beaten up cardigans. Iridescent tailoring bursts through an already vivid color
palette.

Accessories for women are spun from the same wheel as their ready-to-wear counterparts. Classic “frame” evening bags come in two sizes and feature fabrics in dust colored silk jacquards or transparent floral beading. Men’s bags take shape through cross body metallic souvenir pouches or bonded box bags in a deep blues or reds. Mini- flasks, lighter holders, cigarette cases and ear-bud cases hang from the waist.

Both men’s and women’s shoes share asymmetric soles with men’s appearing as brushed spazzolato or python boots and mocassins. For women’s, a more elegant allure stems from mary-jane, sling-back or stiletto boots recalling the collection’s fabrics of transparent nylon or silk jacquard."
