THE MACALLAN @ Most Expensive Whisky Sold

Guinness World Records™ has awarded The Macallan the accolade of ‘most expensive whisky sold at auction’.  Surpassing the efforts of other distillers and now a definitive world record holder, The Macallan’s 64 Year Old in Lalique, Cire Perdue sold at auction for $460,000 (£291,125), with 100 percent of the proceeds benefitting charity: water, an organisation that provides access to clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations.
Coveted by bidders, the one-of-a kind Lalique crystal decanter housed the oldest and rarest Macallan ever bottled by the distillery, a 64 Year Old single malt whisky. The historic auction which took place at Sotheby’s in New York in November 2010 was the culmination of a 12-city “tour du monde” of the decanter. David Cox, Director of Fine and Rare Whiskies for The Macallan commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the Guinness World Record™ for the most expensive whisky sold at auction. This major accolade from such a world-renowned and respected organisation, proves once and for all that The Macallan is the world record holder. We had a phenomenal response around the world to this very special and rare decanter and I feel it is a fitting tribute to the inspiring project which managed to raise a staggering $600,000 overall for charity: water.”

The Macallan and Lalique global fundraising tour raised more than $600,000 (£375,000) for charity: water to provide clean water to over 30,000 people.

TED BAKER Opens New Store @ Habour City

Ted Baker opened its new store in Harbour City recently. The 1450 square foot store taking design inspiration from the architecture of Hong Kong the store on a rough luxe tone. Combining a mixture of concrete, wood and rusted steel with luxurious fabrics such as silk and leather, all in a decadent colour palette of gold, orange and black and marble flooring at the entrance.
Ted is known for his use of British props in his stores around the world, this store pays homage to those quirky items. The main design feature is a wall exhibiting eight different collections of props. Antique clocks, banqueting tableware, taxidermy animals, sporting balls and a selection of globes and books are housed in display cases reminiscent of a museum. An item from each category has been spray painted gold and hidden within the store, inviting customer to partake in a mini treasure hunt.
  
  
  
 The cash desk is based on a classic light box, featuring a bespoke screen print with a marble top which shines in the midst of the darker tones of the store, while a luminescent mother of pearl feature wall appears a different colour from every angle it is viewed. The store showcases Ted’s AW12 collection, with its autumnal tones of burnished berries and earthy hues to create a palette that embraces rustic beauty and rural charm.
On womenswear Ted’s signature prints are inspired by botanical vintage finds with the foxglove, sweet pea and decoupage cluster prints cultivated as focus placements or seen to grow all over dresses and separates. For Menswear, heritage fabrics are mixed with functional materials to create heavily detailed pieces that are second nature to Ted. Suede shooting patches, contrast elbow patches and knitted panels are key on both knitwear and outerwear.
