Marimekko collaborates with W Hong Kong’s WOOBAR to create a joyful and festive chic afternoon tea experience for all this winter. The original bold prints have been transported to WOOBAR, where afternoon tea revelers can sit back and relax amongst Marimekko themed tableware displays, sip on tea with signature printed mugs, and treat themselves with delicious and carefully curated Marimekko inspired afternoon tea treats. Inspired by Marimekko‘s strikingly inventive patterns and clever use of colours that capture fascinating moments, these brand elements are reflected in the flavours and high tea desserts such as the Red velvet strip cake and Truffle Chocolate which intricately display our signature logo and pattern – the most insta-worthy treats. NICKI MINAJ Stars In H&M´s Magical Holiday Film

H&M 2017 Holiday campaign film will star Nicki Minaj alongside Jesse Williams and John Turturro. Directed by Johan Renck, the film tells a story of a parallel fantasy world filled with memorable characters and a universal message of caring for one another.

 A modern take on the classic fairytale, the film centres around a heroic little girl who tracks down the evil brother of Santa Claus in order to save the holiday season from his selfishness. Nicki Minaj stars as the mother of the little girl as well as the fabulous fairy named the Wisest Thingy, while Jesse Williams plays the dual role of the father and the supernatural Fastest Fairy, and John Turturro takes on the part of both Santa Claus and the evil brother of Santa Claus.

“I love the film's over all empowering message. I love seeing this young girl become the champion that lives in all of us. There's always magic in the air during the Holidays,” says Nicki Minaj.

Be prepared to get spoilt by choice when it comes do dining out in Beirut, such a melting pot not only conserved by its Arabic origin yet also inspired by its neighborhood countries such as Turkey, The Middle East, Syria as well as the Mediterranean cooking method and not forgetting the well adapted gastronomy from their French colonization  influenced the latter. Located at the ground floor level of the iconic façade of the Phoenician InterContinental Beirut, Caffe Mondo spreads through the restaurant with an Al fresco terrace for you to watch the world go by. You will be greeted by the glass-wall wine cellar when you enter Caffe Mondo through an automatic sliding door. Casual table settings with red ceiling lamp shades add warmth and unpretentious ambience for diners.

A long table can sit up to a group of 14 diners with a bright stone wall juxtaposed against the darker colored wooden floors with a mini library to enlighten the entire restaurant and add life to a much homely feel.

Caffe Mondo showcases authentic Italian cuisine and we came back twice for its diverse array of antipasti bar. More than 20 selections of antipasti to choose from ranging from salad, cheese, dipping to grilled vegetables to treat your senses to an Italian journey.

Quinoa Salad is one of our favorites from the Antipasti bar.

We ordered the Fettuccine Diablo to start with after numerous rounds of antipasti to satisfy our Italian cravings. A well cooked al-dente Fettuccine is hard to find, our past experiences were either overcooked or a bit on the hard side failed me from time to time. Caffe Mondo did not disappoint us for what they have done best is for the right kind of texture as we anticipated. Grilled prawns with spicy bell peppers accompanied by the rich tomato ragout was well mixed and blended in with the abundant flavor that is exactly how a good pasta dish should be cooked.

The next dish to arrive was the 180 gram Filetto di Manzo alla Grilia beef tenderloin steak served with ruccola salad and herb jus. Charcoal grilled on the side and with light seasoning enables you to enjoy this juicy piece of meat without over powering the taste of the meat.

Don’t forget to take a peek by walking down the stairways to powder your nose at its basement toilet. Whimsical and colorful art deco posters with a nostalgic spirit cheer up the mood after your lavish Italian meal. There are even black and white Fashion photography shots above the urinal to add a bit more style to a bathroom break.

Caffe Mondo is a real casual find when you opt for a change by taking a break from the all-day Lebanese meal and like to give your palette an alternative treat. In Beirut, such an added bonus in finding a fine locale for comforting food, it is a blessing! Buon Appetito!

I had to found my place. Creation is an emergency; then I learnt the work on glass with blowlamp. I get this way the « Ateliers d’Arts de France » label in 2014. I work the melting glass, giving its forms, colors and reflections because of a repetitive movement, for mastering its viscous and solid condition. To me it’s similar to a violinist, who has no reference point and a total freedom… 

In order to respect this art, I decided to present my pieces in a casket who represents in the same time my privacy. With the work of metaled laiton, I created more demanding pieces. By sawing, bending, welding the metal, the glass takes another dimension. The laiton meshes are set one by one, like a fabric, allowing the parures to take all the forms and dimensions. The metal engravings give an antique look of which I’m very fond…

 I have no limit to try every technique and art work in order to show the beauty of the art glasswork, like the « plumasserie » (work with feathers), very present in my works. I LOVE this freedom of speech! So many years for reaching it…I am autodidact since my childhood; the thirst of discovering, the curiosity brought to me so many artistic experiences, my first kind of intimate expression.

I admire so much the perfection of masterpieces, the transcendence of freedom of speech, the federative beauty…This is an introspection, and also a free interpretation of the world around. IN THIS WILD life, as much tremendous as competitive, my work find its place in the duration, my feelings take their time, the time for making sense… When it’s finished, my work generally took several hundred hours… 

 A LITTLE BIT like a rebirth, and also like a coherent continuation, my life is an initiation who gave me my identity : art glassworker and jeweller. Like MANY of my peers, my goal is to discover the world, to show my vision of the beauty and of the poetry through my creations. 

NOT AT ALL at the end of this introspection, I use my personal memories, the impressions of my childhood, using the codes of the past, visiting them again, interpreting them again, for giving them a modernity, and, I hope, an everlasting life. Beauty and eternity are the meaning of my work.
