Fish & Meat @ From Fresh Seafood Homemade Pasta to Farm-to-Table Cooking

Fish & Meat,  the name says it all as they specialize in ingredients that speak for themselves and food that you crave week in, week out. Indeed, serious meats are served here. Pairing back ingredients, each component of our dishes has been carefully sourced and cooked in an honest and rustic way. Salt that is packed full of minerals, olive oil with that peppery hit in the back of the throat, the finest whole sea bass that we could find, a handmade porchetta stuffed with Italian fennel sausage. This new restaurant opens it doors in Central recently by the team from Blue Butcher and Brickhouse is already in wait list for the later patrons who wishes to dine in.

Fish & Meat is a restaurant that stays true to its real fundamentals. Culinary director, Malcolm Wood, and head chef, Russell Doctrove, are the creative forces behind the honest and ingredient focused menu. Indeed, the dishes are designed to be shared, family style and have been cooked by a talented team, who simply focuses on the best produce and cooking methods, to perfect the fish, meat and homemade pasta dishes.

Malcolm is the culinary brain behind Blue Butcher and Brickhouse, which between them have been fortunate enough to win numerous awards including Best Restaurant, Chef of the Year, Best Cocktails and The Manual Guide’s Top Five Concepts in the World.Russell grew up and trained in Hong Kong but gained valuable experience in the UK, working in, arguably, some of the best kitchens. After training at the Grand Hyatt and Mandarin Oriental, he worked under Alain Roux at the remarkable restaurant, The Waterside Inn, Bray, which has held its three Michelin stars consistently for the past 25 years. Continuing with three-star cooking, he worked under Head Chef Clare Smyth at Restaurant Gordon Ramsey (Hospital Road), the flagship three Michelin-starred restaurant of the Gordon Ramsey Group.

Creative drinks and wine selection are the heavy focus here. Their mixologists have concocted cocktails to be enjoyed as aperitifs or compliment the menu. They specialize in drinks that you will reminisce on, whilst adding in a fresh twist that will delight your palates and add to an evening of good food and friends. On the Italian wine list is as honest and handpicked as our food menu, with every bottle meticulously selected.

The 500 square feet with an outdoor terrace nestled on the corner of Wyndham Street and Glenealy Street, looking down on to the Fringe Club and Central, not a bad view either from such angle. Fish & Meat is designed with Scandinavian influences and a modern farm décor. The restaurant has 85 covers including two private rooms and a bar.

Vivienne Westwood @ Exclusive ‘Baia and Amelia’ Collection

Vivienne Westwood launches exclusive ‘Baia and Amelia’ collection, as seen on the Vivienne Westwood SS2014 catwalk show. The collection features design notes taken from the rich culture of India, inspired by Maharajas draped in ornate jewels. The Baia necklace presents three sumptuous medallions in black marble, topped with a Georgian inspired bow which is hung from traditionally knotted coloured cord. The Amelia necklace is adorned with three faceted Azurite drop pendants, surrounded by black diamond crystals and framed by two teal cotton tassels. Each piece from the special edition Baia and Amelia collection is presented in a hand-made gift pouch.

We took inspiration from India. And of course the first great impression is the Indian Rajas with their heavy-lidded almond eyes and their perfumed beards, their turbans and covered in a wealth of jewels- no human creatures have ever been so wealthy.” Vivienne Westwood.

ZENITH Manufacture Wins The "Sports Watch" Prize

The prize of the “Sports Watch” category has been won by the El Primero Stratos Flyback Striking 10th Tribute to Felix Baumgartner watch. The jury of the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix has thereby rewarded the first watch to break the sound barrier in a near space environment. The Geneva watchmaking Grand Prix aims to salute excellence in the field of watchmaking. Fifteen prizes reward the finest creations and the most important operators in the watchmaking sector. 70 models were competing in the various categories, and a model from the Manufacture Zenith was honoured by the Grand Prix jury for the “Sports Watch” category at the prize-giving ceremony held in Geneva’s Grand Théâtre. Like all models produced by the brand, this watch is totally in harmony with Zenith’s values: authenticity, daring and pleasure. Authenticity because it embodies the brand’s pioneering spirit and excellence in traditional know-how. Daring in terms of its design and technology. And, of course, pleasure because it has the power to make those who wear it dream. True to the Rainbow Flyback model developed for the French Air Force in 1997, the Stratos is equipped with the most world’s most precise automatic chronograph movement, the legendary El Primero, not to mention the flyback and Striking 10th functions, making it the ideal partner for the exploit of Zenith’s Ambassador since 2010, Felix Baumgartner.

In visual terms, the three different coloured counters are a reminder of the El Primero chronograph launched in 1969, equipped with a three-colour dial that was extremely unusual for the era and designed to improve its readability. The anthracite grey hour counter at 6 o’clock accentuates the length of the unit of time being measured. It is counter-balanced with the light grey of the seconds counter at 9 o’clock, which symbolises the free-floating nature of time, while the minutes counter at 3 o’clock is midnight blue to suggest its intermediate status. Other than the chronograph function, the El Primero Stratos is equipped with a Striking 10th function to facilitate the tenth of a second display. Coupled with the flyback mode, it is particularly useful for aviation, as it allows pilots to stop, reset to zero and re-start the chronograph in a single movement. During the Red Bull Stratos mission through the stratosphere, Zenith watch was confronted with the most extreme conditions possible in terms of temperature, low pressure, speed, friction, impacts, etc. The Manufacture Zenith is therefore the first to see one of its watches break the sound barrier on the very edge of space. As a reminder, after flying to an altitude of 39,045 meters (128,100 feet) in a helium-filled balloon, Felix Baumgartner completed Sunday morning a record breaking jump for the ages from the edge of space, exactly 65 years after Chuck Yeager first broke the sound barrier flying in an experimental rocket-powered airplane. The 43-year-old Austrian skydiving expert also broke two other world records (highest freefall, highest manned balloon flight), leaving the one for the longest freefall to project mentor Col. Joe Kittinger. Baumgartner landed safely with his parachute in the desert of New Mexico after jumping out of his space capsule at 39,045 meters and plunging back towards earth, hitting a maximum of speed of 1,342.8 km/h through the near vacuum of the stratosphere before being slowed by the atmosphere later during his 4:20 minute long freefall. Baumgartner's jump lasted a total of 9:03 minutes. Countless millions of people around the world watched his ascent and jump live on television broadcasts and live stream on the Internet. Baumgartner and his team spent five years training and preparing for the mission that is designed to improve our scientific understanding of how the body copes with the extreme conditions at the edge of space.

Berluti’s Celebrates Ginza Relocation with A ‘Rainbow’ of Patina

Berluti's celebrates Ginza relocation with a "Rainbow" of Patina to 6-7-16 Ginza Chuo-ku, an address at the epicenter of one of the world’s most luxurious pleasure districts further strengthens the Maison’s presence in Japan. A 430 sqm space will provide all of the customary Berluti attentions: a dedicated patina bar, a special orders service, custom leather tattoos and of course, the VIP Bespoke space.

To celebrate the opening, the Maison has drawn on its native expertise to develop uncommon patinas in an unprecedentedly wide ‘rainbow’ range of 41 colors, for Ginza and Ginza alone. The new finishes will be applied to a range of bags, shoes and small leather goods handpicked from their Fall/Winter collection and sold in exclusivity at the new Ginza Maison. This limited edition justly demonstrates the Berluti ethos of bringing life to each and every product. Depths and transparencies have been worked to rare effects, for truly startling, celebratory color and texture.

Berluti’s classic weekender, the Deux Jours, will for the first time be available in their Scritto finish. Etched with the delicate tracery of this most distinctive of lines, the bags are further imbued with dynamic patinas: an ‘Indigo denim’ and ‘St.Emilion Bordeaux’. A final flourish comes in the form of customized tags, commemorating the limited edition. The centerpiece of this limited edition range is a backpack, sold apart in further exclusive colors at nearby Dover St Market as part of the opening celebrations. A first for Berluti, in terms of form and a preview from the SS14 Regate line. The backpack will be available in as many colors as units, which is to say, just 10. The unique colors from the Ginza rainbow range, added to the custom limited edition labels, make for classic one-off items that balance a strong sense of exclusivity with a good sense of style.

Finally, come two pieces from Berluti’s Gaspard line, the Idewa long-zip wallet and the Imbuia business card holder. Bearing unique interpretation of the Gaspard ‘scar’, these small leather goods will each be available in the full 41-strong rainbow of colors, but no one color will be repeated. Like the bags, these wallets will bear limited edition tags to further refine their rarity.
