CLUB MONACO AW2016 Collection

Club Monaco AW2016 Collection infused with a renewed softness, highlighting fresh fabrics and relaxed silhouettes. This fall, the Club Monaco woman exudes femininity, experimenting with ruffles, floral prints and delicate details balanced by a utilitarian sensibility. Traditional silhouettes reminiscent of the turn of the century are styled with the 1990’s in mind, bringing a sense of modernity to the collection.

Ruffles are meant to be layered, paired with long, clean trenches and military inspired trousers. Slip dressing is also key; with lingerie inspired pieces layered atop ruffleneck and ribbed knits. Updated sleeves play an important role, showcasing gathering at the shoulder and experimentation with sleeve shape.

“We’re really feeling for a turn to femininity and a shift from structure to softness,” said Caroline Belhumeur, creative director and SVP of women’s designs. “There is an element of 90’s styling paired with the influence of the turn of the century that plays with ruffles, gathering, and volume in a Club Monaco way.”

The collection’s July capsule revolves around a fresh, but transitional palette of whites and blues injected with shades of dusty peach, with floral prints as a focus. In August, white and muslin give way to greens and khakis that pair feminine elements and military details and railroad stripes with ease. Lily pinks and Victorian rose play off of this military inspired palette in September, providing a fresh take on casual feminine style.

The men’s collection also plays with the idea of relaxed softness, focusing on classic patterns executed in sophisticated fabrications and casual silhouettes. “We’re inspired by 90’s patterning and playing with classic men’s fabrics and more technical yarns,” noted Belhumeur.

Traditional railroad stripes are updated in a slouchy trouser, while tailored moleskin and corduroy are also introduced. Soft ombre plaids are paired with pleated trousers that are more generous in shape and floral patterns act as a common thread throughout the season emerging in accent pieces such as shirting, ties, and pocket squares.

The Winter 2016 Collection, channeling a reinterpreted sense of softness inspired by the romantic femininity of the Victorian era. This winter, the Club Monaco woman exudes femininity, experimenting with ladylike fabrics, floral prints, and delicate details balanced by a utilitarian sensibility.  Traditionally feminine elements such as fuller sleeves, covered buttons, ruffles, empire necklines and waisted silhouettes are paired back to military inspired pieces like clean top coats and elongated trousers. Novel textures bring the collection to life with pieces meant to be layered, mixed and matched.

Compact wools in outerwear are softened with an unexpected raw edge and velvet makes an appearance in everything from pencil skirts to ankle boots. A reinvented corduroy with a micro-wale moonlights as a velveteen fabric and furniture trim like tassels, ribbon, and pom-poms highlight textured embellishment in a romantic way. “We’re going back to our roots in the 90’s and silhouettes of that time with a Victorian inspired, feminine spin,” said Caroline Belhumeur, creative director and SVP of women’s designs. “We’re carrying through utility details and mixing them with Victorian elements, playing with puffed sleeves, ladylike fabrics with raw edges and feminine prints.”

The color story in the collection’s October delivery is deep and rich, grounded by plum hues and highlighted by winter white. Print steals the show with opulent violet wallpaper florals. November cools off with levels of blue and camel. Washed black, charcoals and military green round out the December capsule with a versatile and lived-in palette.

LOUIS VUITTON AW2016 “Series 5” Ad Campaign

LOUIS VUITTON AW2016 “Series 5” Ad Campaign is a multiple narrative for which Bruce Weber is the pictorial maestro. In a visual symphony, he captures the various characters that Nicolas Ghesquière likes to call heroines. Ever on the move, these modern trial blazers are orchestrated as graphic figures, like a tribe of determined women setting out for adventure. A heroine among heroines, Selena Gomez does a star turn for this collection.

The shoot for this campaign took place in Miami, Bruce Weber’s favorite turf. It is composed like a “work in progress” for the photographer, who at first wanted to place his heroines on a boat. It was while seeing the boat being transported to the dock that he decided to leave it “as is”, creating visual dissonance that gives rise to an unusual element of architecture.

From this illogical atmosphere emanates a graphic purity, a sort of tension that acts as a counterpart to the models’ vitality. “In addition to being an incredible photographer, Bruce Weber is also a true choreographer of images. He knows how to capture the energy of each individual, and his images are always dynamic, almost alive. I love the unusual perspective he brings to such a major star. Selena’s popularity is fascinating; she’s an icon for her generation. And yet, there is a disarming sincerity and a true presence about her, she’s very direct and grounded. She’s spontaneous and always up for discovering new things. Two years ago, she had already approached me in her very simple, easy going manner and now I’m watching as she changes and grows. For a designer, it’s extremely gratifying to participate in the process as a woman evolves.” Nicolas Ghesquière. “I have had the honor of working with Bruce Weber before, so it was great to already have a connection and I consider Nicolas a good friend at this point. We did the shoot in Miami and it was incredibly laid back. The both of them are very passionate and enthusiastic about their work. Wearing Vuitton makes me feel strong and confident. Nicolas knows how to make a woman feel good about herself.” Selena Gomez

BVLGARI BVLGARI PICCOLA CATENE

BVLGARI BVLGARI PICCOLA CATENE reflects in jewellery-making expertise through its intricately crafted bracelet and exudes a nonconformist contemporary attitude while remaining firmly rooted in the Maison’s heritage. It radiates an opulent yet fresh charm, tinged with a neo-retro aura. Its name is PICCOLA CATENE (‘Small Chains’) because of its articulated bracelet that flows sensually around the wrist like a second skin. PICCOLA CATENE focuses on essentials. Skilfully mingling the Roman heritage of Bulgari with the goldsmithing excellence of the Maison that enjoys a longstanding chain-making tradition, this precious watch that is also a piece of jewellery in its own right epitomises boldness. In this respect, PICCOLA CATENE remains true to the spirit driving the entire creative process of the Rome-based House: playing with impertinent means of expression and opting for the unexpected rather than submitting to conventions.

Everything about its aesthetic values conveys the originality cultivated by Bulgari and pervading all its creations. A commitment to revisiting everyday shapes and objects so as to infuse them with new momentum through an approach that diverts them from their original vocation. In the PICCOLA CATENE, the chain motif becomes the distinctive bracelet of a ladies’ watch, encircling a dainty case – measuring just 22 mm in diameter and bearing the brand’s double signature on the bezel. A model reflecting the most recent trends for watches gracing the arm of elegantly refined women and equally at home at an evening cocktail party as they are in daytime wear. Bvlgari has consistently drawn inspiration from existing elements and then reinterpreted them in talented ways based on innovative style codes making a clean break with previous approaches. PICCOLA CATENE is a perfect illustration of this jewellery inspiration reflected in a model playing the role of an elegant and glamorous accessory. A creation capable of incorporating an element from the proud heritage of the Maison while also clearly affirming its place in today’s world. PICCOLA CATENE is tailor-made for a world dominated by the values of sophisticated luxury.

As much a watch as a piece of jewellery, PICCOLA CATENE finds its place in the BVLGARI BVLGARI line and glows by day as well as shining at night. It offers a tempting alternative that breaks free of traditional norms, while expressing a set of essential symbolic values: the chain combined with the double signature of the Maison engraved on the bezel are twin references to the roots of the Rome-based jeweller and to its quintessential creative history. This new model embraces the wrist with an elegant gold circle, set with diamonds in various ways according to the four versions available. It opens up whole new horizons in the field of feminine watchmaking creativity, while offering a playful, nonconformist style signature. PICCOLA CATENE, designed and crafted to ‘chain’ the wearer to time with exquisite refinement and paradoxical aesthetic freedom.
