LLADRO @ The GUEST by Paul Smith

Lladró invites Paul Smith to design their sixth guest series makes the first ever collaboration with luxury fashion brand. The unique aesthetic of Paul Smith’s designs have been mirrored artistically by the artisans at Lladró, who have put their expert hands to work to capture his personal and creative world. They have given life to the fun-loving characters created for The Guest collection by Lladró Atelier. Scattered with confetti and covered with masks, this cat and this dog are the two newest additions to this mischievous and irreverent collection.

Lladró’s ability to transform a thousand-year-old material using unique artisan processes into a myriad of decorative and functional projects appealed to Paul Smith. "Lladró is impressive because all is made and painted by hand and every piece is created at their wonderful headquarters in Valencia. That’s becoming more and more rare in today’s highly computerised and mechanised world."

When porcelain joins forces with fashion, and artistic attention to detail meets one of the great names in design, the creativity and sense of humour shared by the designer and the collection result in The Guest by Paul Smith. "I wanted an object that is very happy in a house" highlights Paul Smith of his guest.

Passion for detail is a key feature shared in common; this is captured in the meticulousness with which its artists work, for Paul Smith it can be seen in the surprise elements of his designs. Famous for introducing colour into the classic English aesthetic, the geometric pattern in bright colours conceived by the designer stamps character on the new versions of the singular The Guest.

Tiffany & Co. Opens New Store @ Avenue des Champs-Elysées Paris

Tiffany & Co. celebrated the opening of a brilliant new store at 62, avenue des Champs-Elysées, the renowned boulevard in Paris recently. From its façade lit with Tiffany Blue to its gracious interior, the store reflects the company’s global reputation as a luxury brand and a 177-year history that includes Paris, where Tiffany first opened a store in 1868. The approximately 976-square-meter (10,000 square feet) store combines the energy of New York with the elegance of Paris. Constructed on three levels, it is the pinnacle of the Tiffany shopping experience, with luxurious private salons and windows that afford maximum natural light for the proper viewing of the world’s most beautiful diamonds. The levels are connected by a Calacatta marble and limestone staircase that encircles a magnificent chandelier. This sculptural crystal column cascades to the ground floor, where some of Tiffany’s most iconic jewelry is arrayed, including dazzling Tiffany Yellow Diamonds, bold Atlas creations, the essence of strength and freedom; Tiffany Keys to collect and wear as symbols of joy and a life filled with possibility; as well as the Return to Tiffany collection.

The second floor’s décor of pale blue, bronze and shimmering silver walls frames contemporary collections. A hand-painted art installation inspired by the ribbon that wraps the Tiffany Blue Box captures the jewelry’s sheer energy and chic. Other interior details include gilded walnut paneling, iridescent wall coverings, and chandeliers and carpeting with magnolias patterned after the stained-glass masterworks of Louis Comfort Tiffany, son of the company’s founder and a world leader of the Art Nouveau movement. The store’s exterior features details of the entrance to the Fifth Avenue flagship store, including the Art Deco-style stainless steel doors and the wheat leaf pattern etched on the new store’s windows and columns.

On view for a limited time, is one of the rarest of all diamonds: the legendary Tiffany Diamond, mounted in a necklace of white diamonds totaling over 100 carats. The radiant yellow stone was purchased by Tiffany’s founder in 1878 and brought to Paris, where it was cut to 128.54 carats of pure beauty and light. Glamour gives way to love and romance in the first floor’s bridal salon, with the world’s most coveted diamond engagement rings showcased amid custom furnishings and white lacquered walls. Included in the collection is the Tiffany® Setting, which has enjoyed universal popularity since its 1886 introduction.

In addition, individual galleries with images and historical creations enlighten customers on Tiffany’s great legacy. Among these images are Tiffany jewels and objects that were awarded gold medals at the great Paris expositions of 1889 and 1900, along with artwork and images of New York City, where Tiffany was founded in 1837. French-born designer Jean Schlumberger, who for three decades reigned over the jewelry world from his salon at Tiffany & Co., is depicted in his Paris studio, with sketches for jewels collected by legends from Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy to today’s celebrities and stylish women. Together, these images and artifacts tell a visual story of Tiffany & Co. as New York’s first great jeweler, now open in Paris with all the treasures of its honored heritage.

“This preeminent location places Tiffany & Co. in the heart of a fabled city that draws people from all over the world,” says Frédéric Cumenal, president of Tiffany & Co. “We invite everyone to discover the magnificent jewelry that places Tiffany at the forefront of glamour and style.” Florence Rollet, group vice president of Tiffany & Co. Europe, adds, “Our presence on the avenue des Champs-Elysées underscores our commitment to business development in France and Europe.”

EQUILIBRIUM @ The New Exhibition At The Museo Salvatore Ferragamo

EQUILIBRIUM, the latest exhibition curated by Stefania Ricci and Sergio Risaliti at the Museo Salvatore Ferragamo, honouring the trailblazing studies conducted by the Maestro on the anatomy of the foot, opened last night in Florence as part of the calendar of Firenze Hometown of Fashion, the program of special events organized in association with Pitti Immagine Uomo to mark the 60th anniversary of the Center of Italian Fashion.

The rich catalogue of the exhibition (running for almost one year until April, 2015) includes exceptionally fine and meaningful works of art in various media: painting, sculpture, photography, video, film, and printing - on loan from major international museums and art galleries. Artworks by Canova, Degas, Rodin and Bourdelle, Matisse and Picasso, Lipchitz and Severini, Klee and Calder, Bill Viola and Marina Abramovic, Wassily Kandinsky, Fausto Melotti, Albrecht Dürer, and Giulio Paolini, are displayed in the museum halls along with documentaries, historic records, and archive images of Nijinsky, Isadora Duncan, Martha Graham, and Trisha Brown.

Outside, in Santa Trinita Square with Palazzo Spini Feroni as the backdrop, an outstanding Cecil Balmond H_edge installation featuring metallic structures in equilibrium. In this striking location, the crowning moment arrived just after 7pm, when the prestigious Firenze Danza Ballet Company (formerly Maggio Danza, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Ballet Company), helmed by director and choreographer Davide Bombana, performed Suite dal balletto Carmen, with music by George Bizet and Rodion Shchedrin - an extract and first preview of the show to be staged at the Florentine Teatro della Pergola from June 20th. The show, repeated at 9:30pm, achieved resounding success in the public, who applauded enthusiastically the two prima ballerinas Letizia Giuliani and Gisella Carmona Gálvez, among other performers.

It was the customary homage that the Ferragamo family is always keen to offer to the city of Florence, a way of showing its gratitude and highlighting once more the strong bond between Salvatore Ferragamo and the highest expressions of Italian art.

The 21 shades come in 4 different textures: matte (M), pearl (P), metallic (ME) and glitter (G).

The secret lies in the formula
Science and art together combine with the brand’s pioneering spirit to create cutting-edge make-up: long lasting but soft textured, waterproof but high colour blendable formulas were achieved by the intricate combination of polymers and waxes with volatile solvents.

Strong wear, long lasting & water proof
Combination of 2 polymers, a rigid silicon polymer and a flexible silicon polymer offer a good adhesion and flexibility for long wear. When color sets on the skin, the volatile solvent evaporates for a long-lasting water-resistant finish. The NEW formula is now resistant to smudging, sebum and sweat for 12 hours.

Soft texture, blendable colour, intense colour pay off
The blend of double waxes allows soft & smooth drawing while staying solid for easy, controlled application that can fill in the small gaps at the lash root – so soft, the line can be blended into skin for natural definition, or be blended into other colours for glamorous gradation. Soft texture allows intense and instant colour pay-off.
