GAJA Wine Book Launch @ The Vines of San Lorenzo

GAJA and CUP Publishing launched the Chinese-language edition of <The Vines of San Lorenzo> written by Edward Steinberg, focuses on the vineyards of San Lorenzo in Piedmont, NE Italy. These vineyards are home to GAJA, one of Italy’s best known and most awarded wineries, and fifth-generation sisters Gaia and Rossana Gaja were pressence at the launch event.
Gaia Gaja gave a storytelling to bring to life the history of winemaking in San Lorenzo focusing specifically on the 1989 vintage where the book highlights the nuances and unique qualities that make San Lorenzo so special. Besides, the hard work, dedication and revolutionary innovations of fourth-generation and current President, Angelo Gaja, that have profoundly influenced Italian winemaking and increased its stature and popularity throughout the world can alos be found in the book.

The Gaja family settled in the Piedmont region in northwest Italy in the mid 17th century. Five generations of Gaja have been producing wines in Piedmont’s Langhe hills since 1859, the year Giovanni Gaja, a local grape grower, founded Gaja Winery in Barbaresco. Its current proprietor and President Angelo Gaja is credited with developing techniques that have revolutionized winemaking in Italy, and terms such as "the undisputed king of Barbaresco", and "the man who dragged Piedmont into the modern world" have been applied to him, and whose Barbaresco wine is considered a status symbol on a par with Chateau Lafite-Rothschild or Krug Champagne.

Five GAJA wines were showcased including the flagship Barbaresco and single vineyard wine Sperss aslo being featured in the book.

Today, the Gaja Winery owns 250 acres of vineyards in the Barbaresco and Barolo districts in Piedmont region. In 1994, the Gaja family acquired their first wine estate in Tuscany, Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino, producing Brunello di Montalcino, and in 1996, the family purchased a second estate in Tuscany,Ca’Marcanda, located in the Bolgheri district, where renowned Super Tuscans are produced.

H&M @ Spring 2013 Women Collection

H&M Spring 2013 Women collection is the Bohemian style for the 21st century with the embellishment and trims on modern shapes that are both sporty and relaxed. The emphasis is on new forms of decoration, with piping on sweatshirts, dresses and leggings, tasseled or fringed skirts, and embossed leather jackets. A new sporty volume comes from a billowing draped shirt or an oversized draped blazer, which contrast with pieces of high decoration, such as a patchwork brocade sculpted jacket, or a flouncy one-shouldered frill dress.

Colours are sun-bleached, and pieces such as the decorated-front sweatshirt and the white wide-leg pants are wardrobe staples to wear all season long. Accessories continue the handcrafted feel, with tassel bags and earrings, a pineapple charm bracelet and a bolo tie necklace. Cowboy booties complete the look, as well as espadrilles and flat sandals with chunky buckles.

“I really like the new bohemian look at H&M. It feels fresh again thanks to the sporty shapes, sun-bleached colours and the new forms of embellishment. These pieces can be worn in so many different ways, mixing decoration with something more minimal, and using volume to create whole new outfits,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design.

Hermès @ Time in Motion

Hermès celebrated the launch of the first in-house “Manufacture” movement timepieces at an exclusive dinner party in Macau recently, mylifestylenews reports live. We were firstly invited to Macau Tower to discover the latest 2012 Hermès watch series - new Arceau Ecuyère ladies’ watch collection and Dressage watch collection. Both series are equipped with “Manufacture” movement showing the finest craftsmanship. An interactive installation allowed us to take a closer look at the beauty of each timepiece by pulling down the magnifying glasses.

Two limited editions were specially introduced: 100-piece limited edition Arceau Ecuyère rose gold version with diamonds were made to celebrate the watchmaking centenary of the House and 175-piece limited edition Dressage watch in matt graphite dial and alligator strap were made in reference to the 175 years of the House.

After the watch tour and presentation, we were then ushered into the theatre to view an exclusive dance performance entitled Time in Motion. Hermès discovered this enchanting composition which vividly embodies its title - and has been specially created for the launch of the new Arceau Ecuyère watches and Dressage watches. Hermès offered a journey into the mysteries of time with Time in Motion with time suspended, dream line, universal and cosmic time, time for shared emotion brought forth by art.
Time in Motion calls upon music, an art which simply could not exist without time: dance, the art of movement in space. And images, which exalt the infinite in both space and time. Playing within a rhythm based on other rhythms, choreographer David Drouard goes beyond simple illustration and makes time the very substance of the show.
Leading the dancers through an exercise in precision, he measures them against the metronomic mechanics of the clavichord and the bass viola of Marin Marais, slips their steps through a continuous revolution around Philip Glass’s work on heavenly bodies, and gives in to the free-flowing energy, sensuality, frenzy and bestiality of Arvo Pärt’s score.
With the beautiful and strong movements and rhythm of the dancers still pulsating in the our minds, a line of orange motorcycles was full gear in motion leading the way through Macau Bridge towards Banyan Tree Macau where the dinner was held.
This photo is 100 years old. The Hermès family is on holiday. Emile’s daughters belong to the fourth generation since the creation of the company by Thierry Hermès in 1837. They are posing with a mischievous air. Jacqueline, the second in line, is wearing a “porteoignon” on her wrist, or in other words, a pocket watch with a clever system that holds it in place on a leather strap. The leather comes from the company workshops. It is the very first Hermès wristwatch.
We were warmly greeted by Luc Perramond, CEO of La Montre Hermès; Patrick Abaladejo, Director for Strategy and Image of Hermès International, Daniel Talens, Managing Director of La Montre Hermès Pacific, Florian Craen, Regional Managing Director of Hermès North Asia; Elsa Rameau, Managing Director of Hermès, Hong Kong & Macau with delightful jazz music in the joyful moment of Hermès-time.
