Van Cleef & Arpels inaugurates its third Maison in Hong Kong after Place Vendome in Paris and Fifth Avenue in New York. The new Mansion illuminated the five-storey façade provides a unique and sophisticated setting to discover the poetry of Van Cleef & Arpels in the heart of Asia. The first in Paris opened its doors in 1906. Moving with fashion and society, the New York Maison was established in 1939. Now, over a century since the House was founded and as the world’s eyes focus on Asia, the company has decided that Hong Kong is the perfect location for its new Maison that would leads and influences the entire region.

  

 

 Designed by Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku, the Prince’s Building Maison associates exceptional beauty and balance by revealing the connection between Van Cleef & Arpels and the perception of modernity in Chinese civilization. It was designed with character and intimacy, like a home that combines refinement and exclusivity in a setting that is warm and respectful of the local culture.

  

 

The Hong Kong Maison rises above the six existing boutiques in Hong Kong, featuring exclusive pieces and collections. These include the Ballerina Dancer set – a one-off piece designed exclusively for the Hong Kong opening featuring a Ballerina in white gold diamonds and rubies that can be worn as either a necklace or a clip. The Bals de Legende collection, inspired by the classic balls of the 20th Century, will also take pride of place. Stanislas de Quercize, Van Cleef & Arpels’

  

The world’s high society has been enamored with the jeweler’s innovative prowess since the House was founded. Marlene Dietrich, Sophia Loren and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis have all had a taste for Van Cleef & Arpels natural sophistication. At the opening celebrations for the Maison current patrons Cate Blanchett, Josephine Siao Fong Fong, Michelle Yeoh and Deanie Yip had all graced the cocktail reception.

  

  

  

 

 

 

  

 

"The Art of Timeless Precision" exhibition @ Audemars Piguet

Save a date for yourself as Audemars Piguet will be hosting  “The Art of Timeless Precision” exhibition at Ocean Terminal Lobby, Harbour City in Hong Kong from October 5 to 9, 2011. It will feature the latest Jules Audemars collection and photographs including works from master photographer Mr. Carsten Schael and Mr. Yu Yuntian along with photographs of the finalists participating in the photography competition based on the theme “The Art of Timeless Precision”. 

This project is supported by high-end Swedish professional camera maker, Hasselblad, who will provide their professional cameras to students from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Hong Kong (SCAD Hong Kong) and the Beijing Film Academy in Beijing. Students will then compete to win the chance of displaying their works at the exhibition. Mr. Carsten Schael and Mr. Yu Yuntian, will also each commit one photograph to the exhibition, drawing their inspirations from Audemars Piguet to unite the artistic talents of photography and functional aesthetics of the Jules Audemars timepieces. When art meets art, it is timeless.

《Swiss Auctions Debut @ Hong Kong》

A thriving development in the Asian watch industry has been observed in recent years. Particularly, in Hong Kong and China. Swiss Auctions is pleased to announce the launch of its premier luxury watch auction, to be held on October 5, 2011 at the Diamond Ballroom, The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. Around 300 pieces of rare and important luxury timepieces and watches will be on auction. The automaton bird, covered with genuine feathers, sits inside a gilt bronze cage and can sing six tunes on the hour and half-hour or at will. This very fine and rare clock illustrates the exquisite watchmaking craftsmanship inspired by Jaquet-Droz, making it a highly collectible and desired piece.

《Insidious》

We expected more since it was claiming that it is from the production team of [Paranormal Activity] and [Saw] but it turned out to be another not-so-scary kind of horror film. With Patrick Wilson's dramatic acting as ever, it could contribute more intense to the film but it doesn't really work that way as when the story develops, the core leads to the wife played by Rose Byrne who got 'disturbed' by what she shouldn't have seen or have acquaintance with. Nevertheless, to prolong the movie and repeated plots, it turned out more like a regular domestic disturbance than a horror/suspense film. Have a laugh if you wish!
